Muskoka headshot photography: Booking your next headshot

These days social media is a pretty big deal, isn’t it? Some of us love it. Some, not so much. Many of us make use of multiple sites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. On top of that, almost everyone online is eager to share things about themselves and post their profile pic. Its hard to deny that our face is out there a lot more and to a greater audience than before the age of social media. Because of the way things have changed, I’d say it’s more important now than ever before to use a current professional headshot.

Headshots are much more styled these days than the stale version we saw in decades past. We all like to look cool, feel beautiful, be professional and generally like to feel good about ourselves in any given photo. Not to mention, headshots or business portraits can range from the corporate look to business casual or even very casual depending on what you want to say about yourself.

Headshots are one of my favourite things to shoot. A lot of first time clients tell me that they “hate having their picture taken” or “they don’t look good in photos”. I bet you, reading this, might even be saying “yeah, me too”. The truth is, it’s not you, it’s not them, it’s the photographer. It’s the photographers job to make sure you look good and it’s the photographers fault if you don’t. What I love most about shooting headshots is the opportunity to show someone how awesome they can look when they are photographed properly, by a professional.

Is the photographer you are considering a pro?
Do you like their work?
What do you want to say with your new headshot?
Are you interested in one look, or multiple looks?
How long has it been since your last headshot?

For business owners seeking to arrange new headshots for your staff, keep in mind the importance of consistency in styling and/or background to best represent your business. The last thing you want is a website with 10 different headshots, all with completely different backgrounds and heaven forbid something that was cut out from a family vacation photo.
